Product Description

Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is a high-molecular material made by chlorinating high-density polyethylene (HDPE). It features excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance and flame retardancy, and is widely used in plastics, building materials and cable sheaths, etc.
Appearance: Chlorinated polyethylene appears as white powder or granules, and is non-toxic and odorless.
Chlorine content: The chlorine content is usually between 20% and 50%. The higher the chlorine content, the better the flame retardancy of the material.
Heat resistance: It remains flexible at -30ºC and has high thermal stability. The decomposition temperature is relatively high, and HCl gas is produced during decomposition.
Chemical resistance: It has good resistance to various chemicals, oils and ozone, and is suitable for use in harsh environments.
Production method: Chlorinated polyethylene is mainly produced through chlorination reactions. Common methods include solution method, gas-phase method and water-phase suspension method. Chlorination reactions can be catalyzed by light or free radical initiators to ensure the continuity and uniformity of the chlorination process.
Plastic modification: As an impact modifier for PVC, it improves the weather resistance and impact resistance of plastic doors and windows, pipes, and wire and cable sheaths.
Rubber industry: It can be used as a high-performance special rubber and mixed with other rubbers to enhance the performance of materials.
Building materials: It is widely used in waterproofing membranes, sealing strips, etc. Especially under the promotion of green building policies, the demand for environmentally friendly chlorinated polyethylene is gradually increasing.

In the late 1990s, the domestic demand for high-performance flame-retardant rubber was on the rise, especially driven by the development of the wire and cable industry and the automotive parts manufacturing industry, which boosted the consumption demand for rubber-type CPE. Rubber-type CPE is a special synthetic rubber with excellent comprehensive performance, good heat resistance and flame retardancy.

Chlorinated polyethylene resin is a new type of synthetic material with a series of excellent properties. It is an excellent impact modifier for PVC plastics and also a synthetic rubber with good comprehensive performance. It has a wide range of applications and has been widely used in cables, wires, rubber hoses, rubber sheets, rubber and plastic products, sealing materials, flame-retardant conveyor belts, waterproof membranes, films and various profiles and other products. CPE can also be blended with polypropylene, high and low pressure polyethylene, ABS, etc., to improve the flame retardancy, aging resistance and printing performance of these plastics. CPE can be regarded as a random copolymer of ethylene, polyethylene and 1,2-dichloroethylene. Its molecular chain is saturated, and the polar chlorine atoms are randomly distributed. Due to its excellent physical and chemical properties, it is widely used in machinery, power, chemical, building materials and mining industries. CPE has better heat resistance, ozone resistance, weather resistance and aging resistance than most rubbers, better oil resistance than nitrile rubber (NBR) and chloroprene rubber (CR), and better aging resistance than chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM). It is non-toxic, flame-retardant and non-explosive.

Main applications include: wires and cables (mining cables, wires specified in UL and VDE standards), hydraulic rubber hoses, automotive rubber hoses, belts, rubber sheets, PVC profile and pipe modification, magnetic materials, ABS modification, etc.
